After university she worked through various crew roles before becoming a director. Her directing work includes short films, documentaries, music videos, and a TV movie. She also worked in film festival administration, co-ordinating both the Women on Women Film Festival and White Gloves.

In 1994 she started producing and set up her own production company. Twoshotmedia specialises in all types of film and video, including corporate DVD, commissioned documentary and drama, and children’s productions. Twoshotmedia works with big and small business, government contracts, community organisations and NPOs.

Monica has also worked as a trainer and speaker for ten years. Her sold-out workshops and lectures include topics such as Producing for Beginners, Filmmaking Start to Finish, and a series of workshops entitled Freelance Success!, which help creative people improve their business and marketing skills. Monica was awarded the prestigious Stephen Lardner Award in 2002 for Excellence in Adult Teaching.

In 2005 Monica started the creative subsidiary of Twoshotmedia, Girlhouse Films.

Girlhouse Films will primarily produce creative, non-commissioned works, with the initial finding support of Twoshotmedia. The first project for Girlhouse is the feature-length documentary Handbag, due for release in January 2007.

Monica lives with her partner and three children near Newtown, New South Wales.
