Case Study: Creating Video for CD-ROM
One Two Red Blue
One Two Red Blue are the creators of awesome new multimedia software that provides outstanding sales support for a large pharmaceutical company. This software uses video interviews to provide further testimonial support for the sales people using the software, that can be accessed via CD-ROM.
Twoshotmedia was initially brought in to co-ordinate and shoot these video testimonials in 1999. There was an enormous amount of video material to be acquired, and to make it easier for the interviewees we were required to shoot in their home cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.
Coordinating full crews in each of these cities would have created a logistical and budgetary nightmare. To save our clients this fuss, Twoshotmedia was able to provide a two-man crew who were capable of fulfilling all the roles required to make the interviews look and sound as good as possible. We streamlined our equipment to two loads of luggage, and became a very swift force to be reckoned with in the airport!
We were then able to work out a whirlwind schedule that involved shooting and flying to various locations over a series of three day periods. On one particularly memorable day, we flew to Adelaide at 5am, filmed for four hours, then flew to Perth for another shoot (taking advantage of the time difference), then on to Brisbane the following morning for yet another shoot! We joked that we felt a little like rock stars on tour.
We filmed in the hotels that we were staying in, again to save our clients the hassle of finding a studio in every city. We were then able to create a very comfortable and friendly environment for our interviewees, many of whom had no media training.
One elderly Perth interviewee had never been in front of a camera before. We were very pleased when he told us afterwards that it had been a pleasant experience for him, rather than the nervous nightmare he was expecting.
Due to our experience in creating AV material for CD-ROM, the videos look outstanding even in the lower-resolution format used in the finished CD-ROMs. The client was thrilled and we were asked to repeat our two-man traveling show several times a year in an ongoing relationship.
